Hi all,
You should read this term's articles first before you go back to doing Term 2's and then Term 1's. This will ensure you are keeping
abreast with the latest news. I also need you to pick out words [or vocabulary] for learning.
Do remember to keep the first five weeks' Straits Times for lessons later in the term. I will be giving you newspapers for the next
three weeks.
Maoping & some of you boys will pick up 44 copies of the Straits Times outside the General Office when you arrive in school for the
next three Mondays, this Monday inclusive. Just leave the extra 6 copies on top of the other piles and I will sort all the other papers
for the Sec Two classes.
Finally, please remember that Monday lessons are for Speech Communication and Oral practices for this term.

Our holidays are coming to an end; there is only one day left, and that is today. To date, I've uploaded 15 NIC lessons which I think
you should find time to view the videos and read the resource materials, especially the questions. This will help you prepare for the
GCE 'O' Level Oral Examination in August. I will be going through your Prelim Oral results when I see you for the Conferencing
session. Those who do not sign up for such sessions will not have any feedback on this examination.
I do miss you people during this break and I look forward to seeing you in class. I have bought you some Swiss sweets. Meanwhile,
make sure you complete all your assignments for the Vocabulary and the Grammar workbooks, go into NIC lessons and the READ &
WRITE tasks.
I will be uploading the sample essays from the Mid-year Examination, the EW Topics for Term 3 & Weekend Homework for Semester

It's been two weeks and yet there are students who have not submitted their Composition books. Please do so as soon as you can
because I will start marking the moment I complete the timetabling job.
I am also going to look at the drafts of your testimonials. Actually, you people were so fast.... I had thought I'd teach you how to write
them first. Anyway, Mrs Poh has passed me the softcopies. So you see, I also have holiday homework to do.
Finally, I am collating the orders for subscription of the Straits Times Interactive. It will be priced at $32/- a year, from July 2010 to June
2011. This means that you can use it when you are in JC. Please read the article 'A' for Uncle Earnest written by Dr Lee Wei Ling;
this is in the READ & WRITE section, and you will understand why I am encouraging you to subscribe to this platform to read your
newspapers. After all, it is very cheap - only about $2.70 per month ! If you would like to subscribe to it, please just email me at
tan_tou_hwa@moe.edu.sg All scholars have to subscribe as I know this is good for you since you do not have newspapers at the
hostel or even your home country [remember you can use it even in your home country or overseas].

Hi from Switzerland, my dearest students,
Many apologies for taking so long to communicate with you; we could not access internet easily and we had a busy schedule. Of course,
we are not as stressed as you doing the Intensive Study Programme. I hope you all have benefitted from it as much as you had benefitted
from the EL & MT ISP.
My husband and I have been here since 2 June. We have moved from Zurich to Lucerne, Interlaken and back to Zurich this afternoon.
On our way back to Zurich from Interlaken, we stopped over at Bern upon the advice of a Swiss lady and were we glad we heeded her
advice ! We had trouble with getting internet access since we arrived in this country. One, we discovered we could only surf the net in the
lobby of our first hotel in Lucerne and that was only on the day before we left for Interlaken.
The second hotel in Interlaken, a mountainous area, charges the service at 5 Francs [more than S$5/-] an hour. Finally, here at Zurich,
we have to pay 17 Francs for 24 hours and this is why I am able to login into our wetpaint website.
Now, I’d do my English Writing in my profile section of our website. Do find time to read my little stories of my travel in Switzerland. This will
be in little episodes, one per week and over some weeks, as there are so many stories to tell. As you know, I quite enjoy telling you about
my experience and I just cannot use our curriculum time to do so. Thus, I hope you see this as an incentive to login into our website.
Next, I have uploaded the second conferencing schedule for Term 3. Do click on the Edit icon on the left-hand this page [Conferencing
Schedule] and insert your booking of slot with me. After that, just click on Save. As for those who want to drop by school for conferencing,

For the Common Test Week, I will not be collecting the EWs [I'm also not done with marking your last piece]
but when the tests are all over in two weeks' time, I will need you to update on your EW pieces.

Do bring along the Ten Years Series too as we need to do revision. During the Common Test
Week and the next few weeks of Term 2, we will have Speech Communication and Public Speaking
every lesson till we complete the cycle; we need to move on.

Hi 4T1,
I hope you have had a good break and have managed to catch up with your homework set in Term 1.
I will be going into asknlearn and all the Read & Write assignments to see if you have completed your various tasks. You have another week to complete these assignments. Those who have not completed these assignments will get extra work added in hardcopy version.
I will also be using Wednesday's (31/3) lesson to collect your Power Packed Vocabulary books while you do some written work. Make sure all Units 1 to 30 are completed.
Finally, I need to have the recordings of the Reading Aloud 1 & 2 and the Picture Discussion to be submitted if you have not done so. I will be using some of these for teaching purposes. We need to prepare for the coming Internal Oral Examination in April.
